Your work is the reason people hire you. The website should get out of its way.
Portfolio websites for the people who design, build and finish homes. Built on Squarespace by one designer, so the whole site holds together as a single visual system.
Who this is for
Three kinds of company
Custom home builders and contractors
You finish a few exceptional homes a year and need each one shown properly rather than buried in a gallery.
Architects and residential designers
Your drawings and finished work need to sit together without the site competing with either.
Interior designers
Your photography is the product. The layout exists to give it room and get out.
Included in every build
What you get
- A five page Squarespace site, designed and built by one person
- Project galleries laid out around your photography
- Copywriting for every page, written for your clients
- Mobile layout tuned by hand rather than left to default
- Your domain and email connected and tested
- A live training session so you can run the site yourself
- Bug fixes for thirty days after launch
The five pages
In the order a client reads them
-
Home
One idea, your strongest project, and an obvious way to reach you.
-
Portfolio
Your projects, one gallery each, in the order you want them seen.
-
About
Who does the work, and why they can be trusted with someone's house.
-
Services
What you take on, and just as usefully, what you don't.
-
Contact
One short form. Nothing competing with it.
Your images set the ceiling
Good photography carries a portfolio site. Send your best work and the layout is built around it.
If a project was photographed poorly, the honest answer is to leave it out rather than build a page that draws attention to it. Fewer projects shown well beats every project shown badly.
How it runs
Four phases
-
Preparing
You send images, project names and anything already written. I sort it and map the layout.
-
Concept and build
I design and build the whole site. You see it finished rather than in pieces.
-
Refinements
We meet live and make the changes together on the call.
-
Launch and training
Domain connected, site live, and a walkthrough so you can update it yourself.
One to two weeks
A build takes one to two weeks once your content is in hand. I take a small number of projects at a time, so start dates book ahead.
The site stays yours
New portfolio pages are $150 each, or you add them yourself, since Squarespace is straightforward once you know it. Ongoing revisions are billed at $85 an hour.
Fine print
Worth knowing before we start
- Squarespace hosting is billed by Squarespace, not by me.
- You own the site and the account. Nothing is held on my side.
- Photography and project details come from you. Copywriting is included.
- A signed agreement and a deposit hold your start date.
